The transformation of derelict public baths into a sequence of new public squares and streets has created 200 new apartments, offices for Islington Council and a children’s centre. The listed gatehouse building was restored, with its famous Diving Lady neon sign, and the boiler-house chimney became the centre-piece of a glazed foyer.
PTE supported Grainger in its winning bid, provided a full service from concept to completion and was novated to the building contractor.
It’s great to see the area surrounding the old baths given a new lease of life. The site has been lying fallow for fifteen years and is well due the work being undertaken. The baths are a focal point for residents, steeped in wonderful local history. The development gives the area a very promising future. Grainger were chosen as preferred developers because of the pioneering spirit of the development that they presented to us. It is going to set a standard for affordable new property across London and we’re really proud to be behind that.”
