Topping out celebrations at Thames View Estate in Barking

17.05.13

A ceremonial brick has been laid to mark the topping out of a new development, designed by PTE that will deliver 277 homes for affordable rent in Barking. The special ceremony held on the 15th May was attended by Margaret Hodge, MP for Barking, Cllr Phil Waker, council Cabinet Member for Housing and Cllr Cameron Geddes, Cabinet Member for Regeneration. PTE was originally commissioned in 2011 to create a masterplan for the regeneration of the eastern end of the Thames View Estate, which dates from the 1950s. Our scheme replaces the original nine-storey tower blocks with traditional housing entered at ground level with active frontages and private back gardens. Good progress is being made on the homes, with the first expected to be ready ahead of schedule in November 2013.
