St Luke's Centre in Islington granted planning permission

21.05.13

PTE’s proposals for the St Luke’s Centre were granted unanimous approval at the Islington Planning Committee last night. The proposals include two blocks of shared ownership and private sale flats adjacent to the existing centre with a terrace of affordable homes to the rear of the site. Along with the 50 new homes, the proposals also complete the final stages of the refurbishment and redevelopment of the centre itself, providing a new Cafe along Central Street, a multi-purpose room to the rear, and a re-landscaped courtyard and food growing garden. These developments will all play a part in securing the future of the St Luke’s Centre, which provides activities, services, and events for over 3000 Islington residents each month. PTE, with Higgins Homes and the St Luke’s Parochial Trust have been in consultation with Islington since February 2011, and a planning application was made in October last year.
