Pollard Thomas Edwards is delighted to be working with the London Borough of Lambeth, developer London Square and the people of Brixton to create new homes, new workspace and a new public realm in the very heart of the south London borough, alongside the world-famous Brixton Rec.
PTE has designed a mixed-use scheme for Lambeth and London Square - in line with local planning policy - includes 240 homes, with 70 per cent at council rent and 30 per cent as either shared ownership or London living rent tenures. One out of every four homes will be family homes, with three-bedroom dwellings, while ten per cent of the overall total will be designed for wheelchair users.
Together, we will all be working with the local community in Brixton to ensure they can play a vital role in shaping elements of the public realm.
Community consultation specialists MutualGain will spearhead engagement activities culminating in a public consultation later in 2023 to ensure a range of views are considered.

We will also be working closely with architect Buckley Gray Yeoman, recently appointed by London Square to retrofit the adjacent International House, bringing consistency to all aspects of the new townscape, and to ensure everyone in the local community benefits from the transformational change our mixed-use scheme will deliver.
Working alongside landscape architect Exterior Architecture, PTE will create new ground floor commercial space throughout the development. Community workshops to devise a ‘well-loved-by-all’ approach to the public realm’s design in particular, will help shape project outcomes with no less than 25 per cent of the construction and end-user jobs and apprenticeships delivered prioritised for local people and priority groups.
