PTE has been commissioned by Government to provide strategic and technical support to The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) in its development of the changes to Part L (conservation of fuel and power) of the Building Regulations, known as the Future Homes and Building Standards 2025.
The proposed changes we are working on will go to public consultation in Spring 2023. These changes to the regulations will significantly improve the energy efficiency of buildings and are an important step on the pathway towards the government’s Net Zero targets.
Tom Dollard, Partner of Sustainability and Innovation at PTE, is the architectural lead for this work being led by AECOM. His team are working with AECOM, Fourwalls and Currie and Brown, to specify appropriate form factors, building fabric, thermal bridging and airtightness aspects of Part L. He is also helping to draft guidance that will help to reduce the performance gap to ensure that new homes perform as intended.
